Open Editions — Alberta Fine Art Photography Prints
The same body of work, made available in a more accessible format. Open editions are an entry into James Andrew's photography of Alberta and the Canadian Rockies, printed on the same archival Hahnemühle paper as the Master Collection, offered in sizes designed to live well in a wide range of spaces.
These are the images James returns to every season. The lakes, the prairies, the storm light, the long Alberta skies. The work is the same. What's different is the relationship, open editions have no edition limit and no countdown to retirement. They are made for buyers who want to live with the work without the weight of collector framing, designers building multiple-piece installations, and people buying their first serious art print rather than their fifteenth.
A different way to collect
A gallery wall of three or four open editions at 12×18 or 16×24, hung together across a long wall, tells a story that a single piece cannot. A 20×30 piece anchoring an entryway sets the tone of a home. A small 8×12 print arrives as a gift that actually gets framed and lived with, rather than tucked into a drawer. None of these uses are lesser. They are different ways the work finds its place.
Interior designers and architects often specify open editions for projects that require coordination across multiple rooms, where a single limited piece would not be sufficient or appropriate. Corporate buyers furnishing offices, conference rooms, and shared spaces use open editions for the same reason. The format is designed to be specified, gifted, and lived with, not gatekept.
Materials and sizes
Every open edition print is produced on 310gsm Hahnemühle German Etching paper, the same archival cotton-based stock used in the Master Collection. The paper has a warm, textured surface used by leading fine art galleries worldwide, tactile, classic, made to last generations.
Open editions are available in four sizes:
-
8×12 — $99
-
12×18 — $149
-
16×24 — $249
-
20×30 — $395
Each print is shipped from Calgary in rigid protective packaging. International shipping is available.

The relationship to Master Collection
If you're considering a singular statement piece for a defining space, a great room, a corporate lobby, a primary wall of a home built around the work, the Master Collection offers the same images in strictly limited editions on Hahnemühle paper and large-format acrylic facemount, with edition numbers, certificates of authenticity, and permanent retirement at sellout.
Both tiers serve different purposes. Many collectors own both, a Master Collection piece as the centrepiece of a space, surrounded by open editions that build the story around it. Others stay in one tier or the other based on how they want to live with the work. Both are right.
