Uprising

About This Print

Uprising was captured at Abraham Lake in central Alberta in deep winter, one of the most logistically demanding images in the collection. Methane gas released from decomposing organic matter on the lake floor freezes as it rises, creating translucent white disc formations suspended in the clear black ice. Photographed at sunrise with the David Thompson mountains behind and a pastel sky transitioning from deep blue to warm pink, the result is unlike anything else in Canadian landscape photography.

This is an open edition fine art landscape photography print, available on Hahnemühle German Etching 310gsm cotton rag paper, the same archival standard used by fine art galleries worldwide. Abraham Lake sits in the David Thompson Corridor approximately two hours west of Red Deer, Alberta. Printed to collector grade, with extraordinary tonal depth in both the ice formations and the mountain backdrop. Open editions are not hand-signed or numbered and remain available in the shop indefinitely.
