I was on the trail by 4 a.m., hiking in the dark with nothing but a headlamp and the sound of my own footsteps to keep me company. It was fall in Banff, and the air had that crisp bite that tells you snow isn’t far off. I was chasing a sunrise I wasn’t even sure would show up, but I had to try.

When I finally reached the viewpoint, the light started breaking over the Valley of the Ten Peaks, slowly revealing layers of gold, shadow, and that unmistakable alpine stillness. It felt like a private showing, just me, the mountains, and the reward for showing up early.

I titled this one Valley of 10 Peaks because it’s not just about the location, it’s about what it takes to get there. The climb. The quiet. The patience. And the payoff.
