Layers of Silence was captured on a back road through Kananaskis Country, no scouting, no planning, no tripod already set up. Just a valley that opened up and revealed mist settling slowly into the layers between the peaks, turning the mountains into soft silhouettes stacked one behind the other like ink washes in a painting. James pulled over without hesitation. Sometimes the landscape finds you.
This is an open edition fine art landscape photography print, available on Hahnemühle German Etching 310gsm cotton rag paper, the same archival standard used by fine art galleries worldwide. Kananaskis Country sits immediately west of Calgary in the front ranges of the Canadian Rockies, Alberta, mountain scenery on the scale of Banff with a fraction of the traffic. This is a deliberately minimalist image, its power coming from restraint rather than drama, and it rewards larger formats where the layered tonal depth of the mist and ridgelines can fully breathe. Open editions are not hand-signed or numbered and remain available in the shop indefinitely.

Materials
Fine Art Paper
Printed on Hahnemühle German Etching paper — a 310gsm archival cotton rag with a distinctly textured, warm matte surface. This is the same paper used in fine art printmaking studios worldwide and is rated to last over 100 years without fading under normal display conditions.
Inks are archival pigment-based, printed at high resolution for exceptional tonal range and color accuracy across every detail of the image.
