Reflected Silence was captured at Waterfowl Lake on the Icefields Parkway, another drive home from Abraham Lake, tired and satisfied, when the lake stopped James in his tracks. The water was completely still, the kind of stillness that only comes when the wind has held its breath. The reflection was so perfect it was almost disorienting. Then a burst of light broke from behind Mount Chephren and everything turned gold. It lasted only a few minutes. In those minutes the world felt entirely at peace.
