About James Andrew
James Andrew is a Canadian fine art landscape photographer based in Alberta, drawn to the atmosphere and scale of the Canadian Rockies and surrounding prairies.
Working in remote and often unpredictable conditions, he focuses on capturing moments where light, weather, and landscape align. Alpine sunrises, winter storms, fleeting auroras, and quiet mountain stillness.
His work is rooted in place. Each image is photographed in Alberta and produced as a museum-quality fine art print designed for collectors and thoughtfully designed interiors.
Rather than producing high volumes of imagery, James curates a focused body of work, selecting only the strongest pieces for his Master Collection. Every print is created with archival materials and carefully reviewed before it leaves the studio.
The intention is simple: to create enduring works that bring the power and calm of wild landscapes into the spaces where people live and work.

The Approach
Each image begins long before the shutter is pressed.
I spend significant time studying weather patterns, seasonal light, and the character of specific locations across Alberta. Many of these photographs are captured in unpredictable conditions, before sunrise, in winter cold, or during fast-moving mountain storms.
The goal is not simply to document a place, but to capture atmosphere, the fleeting alignment of light and landscape that defines a moment.

Why Limited & Curated
Not every image I create becomes part of the Master Collection.
Only a select group of works are chosen, pieces that carry scale, presence, and emotional weight.
By keeping the collection focused and limited, each work maintains its integrity and impact.

For the Collector
These works are created for those who value atmosphere, craftsmanship, and a strong sense of place.
Whether installed in a private residence, a professional office, or a curated interior, each piece is intended to anchor a space, not simply decorate it.
