Presence Collection

A flock gathers across the bare branches of a single tree, framed against a sky that runs from violet down to deep amber. Some birds cluster close at the top, others sit alone on the lower limbs, a crowd and a scattering of solitudes in the same frame.

It’s the busiest image in the collection and somehow the quietest. Among so many, each bird is still its own small shape against the light, present and anonymous at once. A picture about being part of something and apart from it in the same breath.
