This was taken on an overcast morning at Lake Minnewanka—a kind of stillness that only the mountains know how to hold.

I remember arriving before sunrise, expecting dramatic light or maybe even a break in the clouds. But instead, the lake just sat there—quiet, cold, and calm. No drama. No color explosion. Just soft greys, gentle textures, and a peaceful hush over everything.

At first, I wasn’t sure if it was going to be “worth it.” But then I realized this was the moment: that pause before anything happens. That feeling right before the wind picks up or the sky changes. It was calm, but charged. Like the world was taking a deep breath.

I named it Quiet Anticipation because that’s exactly how it felt. A reminder that beauty doesn’t always shout. Sometimes, it whispers.
